Volunteers are the backbone of every community and organization. Their role is crucial to every society and organization. India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas, located on Richmond’s popular Highway to Heaven, is honoured to have a lot of volunteers who help with different tasks at the Gurdwara. These include help in the kitchen, serving langar, helping with the Punjabi school , Yoga Centre and various other commitments like helping with the Doors Open program and student groups who come to learn about Sikhism and the South Asian community. On Sunday, September 8, the Gurdwara management presented these volunteers with Certificates of Appreciation. The certificates were presented by Kashmir Kaur Johal, Chairperson of the Gurdwara in the presence of President Mohan Singh Sandhu and Secretary Balwant Singh Sanghera. Both of them, along with Mrs. Johal thanked the volunteers for helping with various tasks at the Gurdwara. The volunteers were very pleased with this recognition.
