TORONTO – An Indo-Canadian rapper known as Drill-Doc from Mission, BC was gunned down in Ontario last week.

The 25-year-old known by his real name Jasmit Badesha, who was involved in a criminal underworld, was gunned down on Sunday, March 3 in the Bergamot Dr.-Rexdale Blvd. area, Toronto Police say.

Toronto Paramedic Services said they assessed Badesha when they arrived. They tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, we’re working to notify next of kin and until we do that, we will not be releasing any further information on the victim,” Det. Abdul Nuri told reporters at the scene Monday morning.

Nuri said it is still “early on in the investigation” and police cannot provide much detail as to what transpired.

He did confirm that a vehicle at the scene was involved, but would not say how.  

“We are reviewing statements, we’re reviewing video evidence and we will update you once we get more information,” he said.

There is no immediate information about suspects and it’s too early to say whether the victim might have been targeted, he added.

Badesha, who had a criminal past, was nabbed in a massive Edmonton fentanyl bust in 2018.

A slew of other drugs, paraphernalia and cash was also seized.

Badesha, then 19, was charged with trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

 “Drug dealers have been known to use various dyes and buffing agents to create different coloured drugs to appeal to consumers,” Staff Sgt. Pierre Blais with Edmonton Police’s EDGE Section said.

“When you use street drugs, you never know what’s in them or how potent they are, and this can lead to serious harm or death.”

Sources say Badesha was convicted of the drug beef.

In the Lower Mainland criminal milieu, Badesha went by the street name Drilldoc, which was also his nom du rap.

His homicide is likely connected to a cross-country urban battlefield where the Brothers Keepers gang is waging war against rivals the UN Gang and the Red Scorpion-Kang group. As a result, tit-for-tat underworld settling of accounts is no longer confined to the Vancouver area.

In September 2022, Brothers Keepers associate Sameh Ali Mohammed, 28, was shot to death in the early morning hours as he sat in his car in a Brampton driveway.

Last April, Halton Police arrested four people in connection with the August 2022 hit on Arman Dhillon at an Oakville townhouse. Dhillon had been a member in good standing of the UN Gang.

UN thug Parmvir Chahil, 27, was gunned down in a downtown Toronto parking garage.

Three days after Chahil was killed, the theatre of war moved west to Edmonton where Brothers Keepers’ Harpreet Singh Uppal found himself the tying goal in the underworld bloodletting, reported Postmedia.

But what was shocking about the slaying of Uppal was that his 11-year-old son was also targeted for death. The murder of the boy breached decades of underworld propriety that ruled killing children was beyond the beyond, reported Postmedia.

“The BK and UN conflict is out of control,” one law enforcement source told Postmedia at the time.
