One Person Dies In The Targeted Langley Shooting!

Shooters allegedly targeted the remaining Dhaliwal brother Barinder “Shrek” Dhaliwal Saturday evening but were hit back by Dhaliwal who may have got one of the hitmen as police reported one dead following the shooting while the victim and others involved in the targeted were not identified. The deceased victim has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending notification to their family.  The victim was known to police and initial information indicates that this shooting was a targeted event, linked to the ongoing BC gang conflict. “Shrek” Dhaliwal’s youngest brother Meninder was gunned down outside a hotel in Whistler two years ago. Two young men — Gursimran Sahota and Tanvir Khakh — were charged. They are due to go to trial early next year. Dhaliwal’s other brother Harpreet was shot to death in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour on April 17, 2021.

LANGLEY – Shooters allegedly targeted the remaining Dhaliwal brother Barinder “Shrek” Dhaliwal Saturday evening but were hit back by Dhaliwal who may have got one of the hitmen as police reported one dead following the shooting while the victim and others involved in the targeted were not identified.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Sunday they are looking for witnesses in a shooting that occurred Saturday, September 21 in the Township of Langley, near Willoughby.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., the Langley RCMP responded to shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue, Langley. Responding officers located two men suffering from gun-shot wounds. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other victim was taken to hospital, treated for non-life threatening injuries, and is expected to survive. 

IHIT was called in and took conduct of the investigation. Police said this investigation is ongoing and the neighbourhood canvassing continues for both CCTV footage and witnesses. 

The Brothers Keepers gangster “Shrek” Dhaliwal was allegedly hit twice when a gunman opened fire Saturday evening near a Langley property owned by his parents.

Dhaliwal, a longtime gangster once connected to the Red Scorpions and the Bacon brothers, managed to escape in a small black Volkswagen SUV and was pulled over by police on 208th Street, near 78B Avenue.

He was taken to hospital as RCMP officers checked the vehicle, removing and bagging several exhibits before the SUV was towed away. He is expected to recover.

The man who died at the crime scene was allegedly the hitman from Alberta, sources told Postmedia. He was allegedly hired to kill Dhaliwal but died in an exchange of gunfire as there may have been others at the scene.

The deceased victim has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending notification to their family.  The victim was known to police and initial information indicates that this shooting was a targeted event, linked to the ongoing BC gang conflict.

“This investigation is in its early stages,” said Staff Sergeant David Lee of IHIT, “we are working in partnership with the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service. Homicide investigators are liaising with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC) to determine how the victims are associated to each other and how this relates to the ongoing gang conflict.”

Police said homicide investigators will remain in the area conducting further follow-up. A secondary scene was located at 208 Street and 78 Avenue. A canvass in that area resumed Sunday for surveillance footage and witnesses.

Two years ago, “Shrek” Dhaliwal, 41, was one of several people listed on a CFSEU poster for alleged involvement in organized crime-related violence.

The poster was issued just a month after Dhaliwal’s youngest brother Meninder was gunned down outside a hotel in Whistler. Two young men — Gursimran Sahota and Tanvir Khakh — were charged. They are due to go to trial early next year, reported Postmedia.
