SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man is facing firearms charges after he entered a business in Surrey and pulled out a gun.

Rajwinder Singh Sandhu, a 45-year-old male, has had several Criminal Code charges approved against him following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an incident that occurred on March 7, at a business in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood.

Shortly before 2:30 pm on March 7, SPS Frontline officers were called to a business in the 7800 block 132 Street where it was reported that a man, who was being held by staff, had allegedly entered the business and brandished a firearm that was then taken away by an employee.

Officers arrived, took custody of the suspect, and seized the firearm. An additional firearm was seized following a search warrant at a residential property in Surrey.

Rajwinder Singh Sandhu, a 45-year-old male, has been charged with the following:

One count of uttering threats contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

One count of carelessly transporting a firearm contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code

Rajwinder Sandhu was released by the court and his next scheduled appearance is on April 1 in Surrey Provincial Court.
