Delta police is seeking the community’s help in locating a missing Indo-Canadian man from Surrey who abandoned his car on the Alex Fraser Bridge on Wednesday, December 4. Police said at 6:20pm on last Wednesday, a car was left abandoned in the southbound lanes of Alex Fraser Bridge.  The driver of the car has not been located, and no witnesses to the car being left on the bridge have been identified.  While driving conditions at the time included fog, with rush hour traffic volume, police believe there are witnesses to the vehicle abandonment. The driver of the car was believed to be a 46-year-old Surrey man by the name of Avtar.  Checks with Avtar’s family determined he was last seen at the family residence earlier that afternoon.  Family and police are concerned for Avtar’s well-being.

DELTA – Delta police is seeking the community’s help in locating a missing Indo-Canadian man from Surrey who abandoned his car on the Alex Fraser Bridge on Wednesday, December 4.

Police said at 6:20pm on last Wednesday, a car was left abandoned in the southbound lanes of Alex Fraser Bridge.  The driver of the car has not been located, and no witnesses to the car being left on the bridge have been identified.  

While driving conditions at the time included fog, with rush hour traffic volume, police believe there are witnesses to the vehicle abandonment.

The driver of the car was believed to be a 46-year-old Surrey man by the name of Avtar.  Checks with Avtar’s family determined he was last seen at the family residence earlier that afternoon.  Family and police are concerned for Avtar’s well-being.

Avtar is described as 5’11” tall, weighing 230 lbs, with short black hair, short black beard, black rimmed glasses, possibly wearing a black toque, black winter jacket without hood, and pajama pants.  Avtar has a tattoo on the back of his right hand. See the attached photo for an image of Avtar.

The abandoned car is described as a grey 2023 Volkswagen Taos.
