Conservative candidate Michael Barrett said Bakshish Sidhu is wanted by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for conspiracy to launder money. Sidhu allegedly laundered money for international drug traffickers, including the notorious Sinaloa cartel in Mexico that was run by El Chapo. This indictment was filed in 2014. He said an individual named Bakshish Sidhu, from Surrey, British Columbia, has disputed these allegations, but his support for the Liberal Party and Justin Trudeau is well established.

OTTAWA – Conservative candidate Michael Barrett (Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes) raised questions about donations Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party received from an individual who is wanted in the United States for conspiracy to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel.
Bakshish Sidhu is wanted by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for conspiracy to launder money. Sidhu allegedly laundered money for international drug traffickers, including the notorious Sinaloa cartel in Mexico that was run by El Chapo. This indictment was filed in 2014.
Barrett said an individual named Bakshish Sidhu, from Surrey, British Columbia, has disputed these allegations, but his support for the Liberal Party and Justin Trudeau is well established.
“According to Elections Canada, a Mr. Sidhu from Surrey donated more than $5500 to the Liberal Party of Canada since 2017,” said Barrett. “An individual named Mr. Sidhu from Surrey also attended a 2019 fundraiser with Liberal candidate, Bill Blair.”
“Ironically, at the time, Bill Blair was the minister responsible for preventing the spread of organized crime in Surrey, British Columbia. Mr. Sidhu appears to have also attended events with Justin Trudeau.”
“Is the Mr. Sidhu who attended Liberal Party fundraisers the same person wanted by the United States DEA, and if so, why have the Trudeau Liberals been inviting this individual to their fundraisers?” asked Barrett. “Conservatives are calling on the Trudeau Liberals to undertake an internal investigation and determine the identity of this particular donor and if it is the same individual wanted by the DEA, return his donations.”
