There were a number of shootings in Surrey before 2023 ended but they’re not letting up as even on New Year’s Day, the Surrey RCMP is already investigating another shooting in the Port Kells area which sent one person to hospital with serious injuries. On January 1 at 10:04 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the 18900-block of 92 Avenue. Officers located the victim, a 19-year-old man who is known to police. He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services.

SURREY – There were a number of shootings in Surrey before 2023 ended but they’re not letting up as even on New Year’s Day, the Surrey RCMP is already investigating another shooting in the Port Kells area which sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.
On January 1 at 10:04 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the 18900-block of 92 Avenue. Officers located the victim, a 19-year-old man who is known to police. He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services.
The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation, and investigators are working to determine all of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Evidence-gathering is still underway, but initial indications are this was a targeted, isolated incident.
