RICHMOND – Our health care professionals in British Columbia have been doing an amazing job in providing quality care to their patients/clients. My friends Kenny and Satwant Jarmana had firsthand experience in this regard. They lost their daughter Elisa Lok to cancer recently. Both the Jarmana family and the Lok family have been devastated by this loss. This is their story about the excellent care that Elisa received before she passed away on October 17,2023 from stage 4 cancer. According to them, during her long journey, Elisa endured countless surgeries, over 200 rounds of chemotherapy treatments, 30 rounds of radiation treatments and an endless amount of CT, MRI and Pet scans. The doctors, nurses and other health professionals on her team were excellent. All of them worked very hard to make sure that Elisa got the best quality of care. Consequently, because of their efforts and the dedication of staff at the BC Cancer Agency and Richmond General Hospital they were able to extend her life by eight years. It enabled her to spend more time with her parents, husband, children, family, and friends.

Both of Elisa’s families want to stress that without the hardworking healthcare professionals and researchers countless BC residents like Elisa would not be receiving the top-notch quality care they have been receiving. All these professionals deserve our sincere thanks and appreciation. Thousands of cancer patients in B.C. rely on the on-going research for new treatments and procedures. For this, they depend heavily on public donations. Elisa Lok’s family, friends and relatives strongly urge the public to donate generously to these worthwhile causes. Your support will empower these world’s leading researchers and clinicians across the province to help their patients.
