SURREY – Conservative Chief and Leader of the Official Opposition of Canada Pierre Poilievre visited the Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society Assisted Living Facility last Friday. He was welcomed by the Board members, management, staff and residents of the PICS facility.
Poilievre was accompanied by his wife Anaida and five local MPs and spent about an hour interacting with seniors in the facility. He spoke about his vision and the importance of such facilities for seniors, “we need to take good care of our seniors by providing high quality of care and services, much like what is being offered at the PICS facility. It is heartwarming to hear about the experiences of the four centenarians living here. I am here to talk to the seniors and seek their blessings.” The seniors were very happy to meet with Pierre and Anaida.
PICS Society’s President and CEO Satbir Cheema spoke of the services and programs offered at PICS and provided an update about the upcoming Guru Nanak Diversity Village project – the 125-bed long-term care facility being built in Cloverdale, which will provide culturally sensitive care to the seniors.
He thanked Poilievre for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit PICS Society.
“It is my privilege and honour to welcome Pierre Poilievre and his wife to our facility. I am sure that another visit will be planned soon to visit our Head Office,” Cheema said.
Poilievre was presented with a PICS Jacket, which he promised to wear during winter.
