A new poll released Monday about the BC Conservative leadership race says former Conservative MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay is in a huge lead over her rivals. Findlay, who lost in the last federal election along with a number of Indo-Canadian candidates she hand-picked including controversial businessman Sukh Pandher, is now 25-points ahead of the second place candidate. Findlay received 44 per cent first-choice support – more than double her 22.8 per cent support in ERG National Research’s early January poll and more than double any other candidate. Caroline Elliott – a distant second place – received 19.5 per cent, Darrell Jones 17.0 per cent, and all other candidates registered below 10 per cent. Thirty-nine per cent remain undecided.

SURREY – A new poll released Monday about the BC Conservative leadership race says former Conservative MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay is in a huge lead over her rivals.

Findlay, who lost in the last federal election along with a number of Indo-Canadian candidates she hand-picked including controversial businessman Sukh Pandher, is now 25-points ahead of the second place candidate. 

“The new poll reveals Findlay’s strong momentum continues to grow, especially among conservative voters who are willing to consider buying a party membership in order to vote in the Conservative Party of BC’s leadership race,” said a press release from Findlay.

Findlay received 44 per cent first-choice support – more than double her 22.8 per cent support in ERG National Research’s early January poll and more than double any other candidate. Caroline Elliott – a distant second place – received 19.5 per cent, Darrell Jones 17.0 per cent, and all other candidates registered below 10 per cent. Thirty-nine per cent remain undecided.

Findlay also leads in second-choice support with 26 per cent.

“I’m grateful to see this growing 25-point lead from conservative voters ready to join our party,” said Findlay, former Conservative MP and Harper Cabinet Minister. “It shows clear momentum for a reliable Conservative who will keep this party true to its common sense conservative values, and defeat the NDP.”

These results stand in clear contrast to the more divided field in early January. 

“As more people learn about our plan to cut taxes, lock up criminals, defend property rights, protect our children, get woke ideology out of our schools, and put freedom first, I am confident this momentum will keep growing,” Findlay added. “Together we will unite conservatives and elect the common sense conservative government British Columbia needs and deserves.”

Conducted by ERG National Research via SMS, the poll has a sample size of 528 respondents who are eligible British Columbian voters screened for current provincial voting intention and their willingness to buy a $25 party membership to take part in the leadership vote. This is the exact group of conservative voters who will be key to deciding the outcome, as only members of the Conservative Party of BC can vote in the leadership race.
