The Indo-Canadian man who along with another criminal gang associate from India involved in shooting up and trying to burn down the house belonging to Punjabi rap star AP Dhillon has been sentenced. His accomplice is still wanted by Canadian police but is believed to have escaped to India. It was a brazen attack on the Vancouver Island home of popular Punjabi singer and rapper Dhillon, where shooters Kingra and Sharma made a video of their crime and had it circulate online through social media. The video showed a person firing 14 shots into the front of a house and a garage while a black truck and another smaller vehicle were on fire in the driveway. Kingra was sentenced to 2 years and 6 years for his crimes and will serve both sentences concurrently. “The sentencing of Abjeet Kingra is the result of months of dedicated investigative work by our officers,” said Inspector Stephen Rose, Acting Officer in Charge of West Shore RCMP. “While we are pleased to see accountability in this case, our work is not done. We remain committed to locating Vikram Sharma and bringing him before the courts.”

VICTORIA – The Indo-Canadian man who along with another criminal gang associate from India involved in shooting up and trying to burn down the house belonging to Punjabi rap star AP Dhillon has been sentenced.

RCMP say that on Oct. 30, 25-year-old Abjeet Kingra of Winnipeg was arrested in Ontario and charged with discharge of a firearm with intent and arson.

The arrest follows a September 2024 shooting in the community of Colwood, B.C., where Dhillon, who moved to Canada from India in 2015, owns a home.

On September 26, 2025, 26-year-old Abjeet Kingra, a known associate of the terrorist Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was sentenced in Victoria Provincial Court in connection with a shooting and arson investigation that took place on September 2, 2024, in Colwood.

Kingra was sentenced as follows:

*Arson damaging property (Section 434, Criminal Code) – 2 years in jail

*Intentionally discharging a firearm into a place knowing or being reckless as to whether another person was present, or being reckless as to the life or safety of another person (Section 244.2(3)(a), Criminal Code) – 6 years in jail

In delivering the sentence, the judge acknowledged that Kingra’s involvement was not isolated, noting his connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi crime group in India, which was recently designated as a terrorist group by Canada, and that he was acting on their instructions to commit targeted criminal acts in Canada.

Indian media outlets reported at the time that Rohit Godara, a member of the India-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the shooting on social media.

According to The Times of India, Godara warned Dhillon to “Stay in your place, or you will meet a dog’s death.”

The post mentions Bollywood star Salman Khan’s appearance in Dhillon’s recent video for the song Old Money.

The Bishnoi gang also claimed responsibility for a shooting outside the Vancouver home of Bollywood singer and actor Gippy Grewal last November, again over ties to Khan.

Kingra will serve the two sentences concurrently.

Kingra, who has been in custody since his arrest on October 30, 2024, was credited 489 days for time served and will now serve the remaining 4.5 years (1701 days), in jail. In addition, the court has imposed a lifetime firearms prohibition.

The charges stem from an incident on September 2, 2024, when West Shore RCMP responded to the 3300 block of Ravenwood Road in Colwood after receiving reports of shots fired and vehicles on fire.

Officers located two vehicles fully engulfed in flames and discovered evidence that multiple gunshots had been fired at and into a residence. An occupant of the home was safely evacuated by police, and the Colwood Fire Department extinguished the fires.

On October 30, 2024, police arrested Kingra in Ontario. He was later charged with Discharge of a Firearm with Intent and Arson.

Investigators have also identified a second suspect in this case. An arrest warrant remains in effect for 24-year-old Vikram Sharma, who is wanted for:

*Discharge of a Firearm with Intent

*Arson

Sharma, who is believed to be currently in India, is described as a South Asian male, 5’9” (174 cm), 181 lbs (82 kg), black hair and brown eyes.

West Shore RCMP continue to actively investigate this incident and are working with our partners to locate and apprehend Sharma.

Anyone with information about Vikram Sharma’s whereabouts is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
