A woman is dead following a stabbing Wednesday night in the Newton area of Surrey. On December 7 at 9:22 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report that a person had been stabbed in a residence located in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue. Police and BCAS arrived within minutes and immediately began lifesaving measures. The female victim was transported to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries after receiving medical care. Police located and arrested the suspect who has been transported to Surrey RCMP cells.

SURREY – A woman is dead following a stabbing Wednesday night in the Newton area of Surrey.
On December 7 at 9:22 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report that a person had been stabbed in a residence located in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue. Police and BCAS arrived within minutes and immediately began lifesaving measures. The female victim was transported to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries after receiving medical care.
Police located and arrested the suspect who has been transported to Surrey RCMP cells.
Both parties are known to each other, and there is no risk to the public.
The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit.
Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase; further information will be provided by IHIT.
