VANCOUVER– An Indo-Canadian man has been arrested after an assault on a stranger in Vancouver last week.
Sanket Sanjay Karve, 34, has been charged by Vancouver police with one count of assault causing bodily harm for allegedly attacking a woman in an apartment hallway last week in the Oakridge neighbourhood.
Vancouver Police responded at 9:00 a.m. on January 8 to an apartment building near West 41st Avenue and Ash Street, after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a man assaulting a woman in a hallway. Neighbours heard the commotion, called 9-1-1, and held the man until police arrived.
The victim, a woman in her sixties, was hospitalized.
Investigators believe the man and woman are unknown to each other.
Karve has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
