Nangal Ambia was shot multiple times at close range by two shooters in broad light and in front of hundreds of fans, who had come to watch the tournament in Mallian, Punjab, on Monday, March 14th and to watch the great Kabaddi player get honoured. The whole incident was caught on video, although the killers can’t be clearly identified but there were two shooters and another two men in the getaway car. Nangal Ambia seemed to have died from the bullet wounds at the spot as organizers can be seen trying to carry Nangal Ambia’s body to a car so they can take him to a hospital.

According to reports, the Punjab-based sports mafia or criminals involved in the organized sport of Kabaddi was behind Nangal Ambia’s murder over the usual politics and high-handed tactics of the criminal elements like match fixing and trying to exert power over top athletes.
Nangal Ambia, who started playing Kabaddi with the Vancouver Kabaddi Club in 2000, was at the top of his game, having won Alto 800 at Anandpur Sahib Kabaddi cup and he was honored with Verna by Vancouver Kabaddi Club.
Nangal Ambia, who was married with two young sons and currently living in the United Kingdom, owned fish and chips shops in the UK.
Nangal Ambia’s exact date of birth is not known but he is said to be in his late 20s. He was regarded as the Diamond player for his athletic capacity and performance on the ground.
There is a video shared on social media of the attack that has devastated his family and his fans. There have been many tributes for Nangal Ambia on social media, especially on Twitter including by singer KS Makhan on tik tok.
