Surrey RCMP has taken a suspect involved in a shooting at a Newton residence into custody and requesting anyone with further information to contact police as the victim is not cooperating. On January 18, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a fight in front of a residence in the 13400-block of 66A Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old man with a possible gunshot wound who was transported to hospital. The injury sustained was confirmed to be non-life threatening and the victim is expected to be released from hospital shortly.

SURREY – Surrey RCMP has taken a suspect involved in a shooting at a Newton residence into custody and requested anyone with further information to contact police as the victim is not cooperating.
On January 18, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a fight in front of a residence in the 13400-block of 66A Avenue. A suspect was arrested on scene and transported to Surrey RCMP cells where he remains in police custody pending further investigation.
Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has conducted the investigation and the scene has been secured pending a search warrant. The victim is known to police and is not cooperating with the investigation; however, the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

Whalley Shooting Injures Two People
There was another shooting on Wednesday and Surrey RCMP is requesting anyone with information to contact police.
On January 19,shortly after 3:00 a.m. Surrey RCMP responded to the report of shots fired inside a warming center in the 10600-block of King George Boulevard. Two people were located with injuries believed to be gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
The victims include a 24-year-old man who is known to police and a 57-year-old woman. Initial indications are that the man was the intended target of the shooting. This incident is not believed to be linked to the lower mainland gang conflict.
“Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and remain in the area collecting evidence.” Says Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer Cst. Sarbjit K. Sangha. “The investigation is in early stages, a motive has not be determined, however, it appears to be a targeted shooting.”
