VANCOUVER – Supra Academy, a soccer Academy promoting youth sports and community development, had a super fundraising launch at a fundraiser hosted by businessman David Sidoo and his wife Manjy Sidoo at their palatial ocean front home in the prestigious Kitsilano area on the Westside of Vancouver Friday evening.
David Sidoo has been active in the sports field as he’s a former top level Canadian football player who has contributed greatly towards the promotion of collegiate and amateur sports. David and Manjy’s son Jordan Sidoo is helping to lead this fundraising initiative for Supra Academy founded by Justin Sidhu.
The fundraising campaign aimed at building a state-of-the-art soccer field in Richmond, BC.
The lack of adequate sports facilities has long been a concern in our city, depriving local children and families of a safe and accessible space to engage in the beautiful game of soccer. Understanding the immense benefits that sports can bring to individuals and communities, Supra is committed to making a positive difference by constructing its own soccer field that will serve as a hub for athletic excellence, camaraderie, and recreation.
The construction of a new hybrid turf field in Richmond, BC could potentially serve as a training group for one of the national teams that will be participating and playing matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The fundraising campaign, titled Supra Academy Fundraiser, aims to raise money to cover the costs associated with the construction of the soccer field, including hybrid turf installation, lighting, fencing, and other essential amenities. By rallying the support of our generous community, local businesses, and passionate soccer enthusiasts, we are confident that we can achieve our goal and provide a transformative recreational space for all.
Supra Academy encourages individuals, families, and businesses to participate in this meaningful endeavor through various avenues of support:
For Corporate Sponsorships, local businesses have a unique opportunity to showcase their commitment to community development by becoming sponsors of the soccer field project. Sponsors will receive prominent visibility, including brand exposure through signage, advertising materials, and event partnerships.
About Supra Academy: Supra Soccer Academy has over 150 athletes in our program at the present time. So far, Supra has sent 9 players overseas to professional European academies and 19 to the Whitecaps Academy. We have competed in high level tournaments throughout Europe and North America. On July 10 2023, our 2009 class won the Crossfire Select tournament in Seattle, WA. With a mission to provide an accessible sports facility, we aim to empower young athletes and create a positive impact in our community. Through various programs and initiatives, we strive to instill values such as leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship in the next generation.
In April 2023 Supra Academy recently participated in the Orange Veins Rotterdam Cup where they played against the academies of RB Leipzig, West Ham United, AIK Fotball, Feyenoord, and Excelsior. In August, we will travel to Liverpool to compete in the Orange Veins Merseyside International Cup.
Supra Academy currently has a setup in place with Magee Secondary School called the Sparks Residency Program where our athletes are able to utilize school hours to train. Our athletes are dismissed at 11:00am in order to attend a field session followed by weights, mental skills, or video analysis. Their day ends at 4:00pm and most return to the field at 7:30pm to conduct another field session.
Please join and support us on Friday, July 21st as we attempt to take the next steps to create more opportunities for our athletes to aspire to become better versions of themselves. Supra Academy is focused on developing multiple pathways and experiences in order to aid their journeys on becoming collegiate and professional athletes.
On this date, we will share our vision going forward to transform us into the premier soccer academy in Canada that is able to compete not only in North America, but also in Europe. Of significance, I wish to note that we have sent our amazing kids to the Whitecaps academy and overseas to Europe.
