Surrey Forward Mayoral Candidate Jinny Sims said her party will create four new Business Improvement Associations within the next two years. The new business areas would be: South Surrey, Guildford, Clayton & Newton Village (80th Avenue & 128th Street). “Small businesses are key to the success of the City of Surrey,” said Jinny Sims, mayoral candidate for Surrey Forward. “Promoting small businesses is the best job creation program the City of Currey can support. SURREY -Surrey Forward Mayoral Candidate Jinny Sims said her party will create four new Business Improvement Associations within the next two years.
BIA’s make it easy for businesses to have control of their own future, build their business and connect with one another.”
“Having small business owners like Jody Toor and Philip Aguirre on the Surrey Forward team is invaluable. Philip’s involvement as Executive Director of the Newton BIA provides insight and experience on how to make BIA’s most effective for Surrey’s small businesses.”
“In consultation with the Coalition of Surrey BIA’s, Surrey Forward recognizes the need for more representation throughout the business community,” said Philip Aguirre. “We need to improve public safety, decrease graffiti and garbage. We need more events and better placemaking initiatives. There is no one better equipped to achieve these results than a BIA.”
The city of Vancouver currently has 22 BIA’s representing every corner of the business community. In contrast, Surrey only has four: Newton, Downtown Surrey, Fleetwood and Cloverdale.
