During the past 140 or so years since our ancestors set foot on Canadian soil our community has gone through a lot of ups and downs. As a result of the sacrifice, hard work and resilience of our pioneers, our community stands at the forefront in Canada to-day.
Many of our professionals, businesspeople, journalists, educators, IT specialists, police officers and athletes have been making an excellent contribution in making Canada great. Chief Superintendent Dave Chauhan, Officer-in-charge of RCMP’s Richmond Detachment, is one of these outstanding officers.
Dave came to Canada approximately 40 years ago and joined the RCMP soon after his arrival in Canada. He served with Prince George Detachment for 14 years. There, he was actively involved in General Duty, Traffic Section, Drug Investigation Unit, Property Crime Unit, Serious Crime and North District Major Crime Unit. In 2005, Dave, along with his family, moved to Lower Mainland. As a result of his hard work and dedication, Dave was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2017. He was assigned the role of Operations Support Officer on the Integrated Homicides Investigation Team (IHIT). In 2019, Dave assumed the command of IHIT. In November ,2020, Dave became acting Officer-in-Charge of Lower Mainland’s five Integrated teams and eventually became Chief Superintendent, Officer-in-charge of the RCMP’s Richmond Detachment.
Since taking over the position of Officer-In-Charge of the Richmond RCMP, Dave has been very supportive of our places of worship along our Highway to Heaven. He is always available for help any time we need him and his team. Dave and his officers often visit our Gurdwara and ensure that his team is there to help us any time we need them. On January 28 (Wednesday) the Gurdwara Management Committee and the Sangat were honored to have langar with Dave at the Gurdwara. On behalf of the Committee, it was an honour for me to congratulate Dave upon his achievements and thank him and his team for their everpresent support for the Gurdwara. As a token of its appreciation, Gurdwara Society Chairperson, Mrs. Kashmir Kaur Johal presented Dave with a plaque. A very lively discussion followed Dave’s very succinct remarks. It was a very enjoyable occasion for everyone. We offer our hearty congratulations to Dave and wish him well
