SURREY – Realtor Harry Bains has joined Brenda Locke’s Surrey Connect as the Mayoral candidate unveiled her full slate during an event at Northview Golf and Country Club on Tuesday evening.
“Harry Bains brings real estate and corporate law experience to our teamand wants to improve the permitting process to address affordability,”says Locke. “We are excited to have him join our slate of candidates, all with impressive backgrounds, diversity and commitment to serve the people of Surrey.”
“Our city needs smart planning and zoning, better health care services, and inclusivity at city hall,” said Bains.
“As a lawyer who works with developers throughout the city, I see how the delays and inefficiencies at Surrey City Hall increasedevelopment costs. These costs are then passed on to the residents of Surrey when they purchase their homes,” stressed Bains.
Brenda Locke added, “We have built an incredible team to represent Surrey residents at city hall;people with integrity and deep knowledge of the issues we face.”
Harry Bains joins Brenda Locke, Ramona Kaptyn, Sebastian Sajda, Rochelle Prasad, Pardeep Kooner, Wil Kwok, Rob Stutt and Gordon Hepner on the Surrey Connect slate.
Locke’s sole co-councilor on Surrey Connect Jack Hundial, with whom she started the new party after splitting from mayor Doug McCallum’s Safe Surrey party, left suddenly to go run for Council in Pentincton, BC.
Surrey Connect was launched in 2018 by Brenda Locke and other concerned Surrey citizens. The slate’s priorities include ethics at city hall, public safety, and livability for all residents, the party said in a press release.
