Model-actress Kajal Kumar was recently featured as a main model in the music video Rider with Dr Zeus, Pressa Armani, Deep Jandu and Lady Leash.

In an industry long dominated by narrow beauty standards and a rigid definition of style, Kajal Kumar is unapologetically rewriting the rules. Bold, resilient, and impossibly cool, she’s carving out space for herself in the hip-hop scene—not just as a model, but as a cultural force pushing the limits of who belongs in the spotlight. 

“Modeling alongside Pressa Armani , who was recently on the 50 Cent tour, was an Amazing Experience!” she says. 

Born and raised in a community where hip-hop wasn’t a career path but a distant echo from across the globe, Kajal’s journey began with resistance. 

“I didn’t grow up seeing anyone who looked like me in this space,” she says. “But that only made me want it more.”

At first glance, Kajal is all fierce lines, poised presence, but beyond the camera flash is someone with an astute understanding of what it means to challenge norms—especially as a South Asian woman.

“I knew that if I stepped into this world, I couldn’t just fit in. I had to disrupt it,” she explains.

She’s collaborated with boundary-pushing stylists, directors such as Ricky Johal from Qtown Productions, choreographers, and rappers, all while building a social media following that thrives on her authenticity and vision.

Her style? 

A fearless blend of global influence: Lenghas, gold jewelry, and a face covering so that the “Kajal” in her eyes tell a fierce story. 

“I thought it would be pretty cool to add my corvette in the music video. I feel that cars have a personality of their own and the corvette just added to my look” 

She isn’t just modeling hip-hop fashion—she’s remixing it.

Despite her rising star status, Kajal remains grounded. She mentors young models from underrepresented backgrounds and is vocal about the challenges of navigating an industry still catching up to the idea of true diversity.

“I don’t want to be the only one in the room,” she says. “I want to open doors so that this isn’t considered rare—it’s just normal.”

As the hip-hop scene continues to evolve, Kajal Kumar is proof that the future doesn’t belong to gatekeepers—it belongs to those bold enough to break them down.
