IHIT Takes Over Investigation After Singh Dies In Hospital!
Surrey RCMP said Friday that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have taken conduct of the Strawberry Hills shooting which occurred Monday in the Home Depot-Cineplex Cinemas parking lot after an Indo-Canadian man who was shot died from his injuries. Jatinder Singh of Langley has been identified by police as the man gunned down on July 5 at approximately 5:30 a.m. The Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a male who had been shot near the 7300 block of 122 Street in the early morning shooting.

SURREY – Surrey RCMP said Friday that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have taken conduct of the Strawberry Hills shooting which occurred Monday in the Home Depot-Cineplex Cinemas parking lot after an Indo-Canadian man who was shot died from his injuries.
Jatinder Singh of Langley has been identified by police as the man gunned down on July 5 at approximately 5:30 a.m. The Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a male who had been shot near the 7300 block of 122 Street in the early morning shooting.
IHIT now has conduct of this investigation as the victim has unfortunately died from his injuries, Surrey RCMP said Friday.
IHIT is requesting the public’s assistance to further an investigation into the shooting.
On July 5, 2024, at approximately 5:30 am, Surrey RCMP responded to shooting of a man near the 7300 block of 122 Street near Strawberry Hills in Newton. Surrey RCMP Serious Crimes Unit took conduct of the investigation and determined that this was a targeted, isolated incident.
The victim was transported to hospital but has since died of his injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken conduct of this investigation.
Police said Friday that to advance this investigation and identify additional witnesses, the victim is being identified as 25-year old Jatindeep Singh from Langley. Jatindeep does not have a criminal record. IHIT can confirm that this shooting was a targeted, isolated incident.
IHIT is working in partnership with the BC Coroners Service, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the Surrey RCMP Detachment. Investigators are completing canvassing in priority areas, contacting associates, and reviewing the collected evidence.
IHIT investigators are looking to speak with the friends and associates of Jatindeep Singh. Additionally, anyone with surveillance video, or dash-camera footage in the area of 7300 block of 122 Street on July 5, 2024, between 4:00 am to 6:00 am is being asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
