SURREY – The Indo-Canadian driver in last week’s tractor-trailer collision has succumbs to his injuries, police said Monday.

Although police has not identified him, he was revealed on whatsapp as Sandeep Singh and a Go-Fund-Me fundraising effort was advertised to help his family.

On July 16 at approximately 8:10 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving two tractor-trailers along Highway 17 and 116 Avenue.

The Surrey RCMP said the driver was a 41-year-old man who was transported to hospital last Tuesday and he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Last week, the police said in a news release that one of the drivers, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital. The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) were called out and have done their initial work.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team continues to investigate this fatality, police said.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this time,” Surrey RCMP said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the event or events leading up to the collision, including dash cam footage, is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-104138.
