SURREY – A large scale illustrated coffee table book “Ramgarhia Virasat” edited by renowned Sikh Scholar and thinker Jaiteg Singh Anant was released by Canadian Ramgarhia Society Canada.
The book release ceremony was officiated by Surrey, Newton, MP Sukh Dhaliwal, Canadian Ramgarhia Society President, Surinder Singh Jabal, Anant and committee members. Book
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Dhaliwal praised Anant for his tireless work and dedication. He said that this book was an important document of the glorious history, eminent personalities, achievements, and deeds of the Ramgarhia community. This meaningful book will be very useful for the new generation. He also praised the important work being done by the Canadian Ramgarhia Society for the community. Speaking on the background of the book, Surinder Singh Jabal, President, Canadian Ramgarhia Society, said that the book was launched on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia at the 2020 Ramgarhia World Conference, Surrey. Jaiteg Singh Anant has not only enthusiastically supported this work but has also done an important and commendable job of making the book a historical document by providing his invaluable services and able guidance for which the Ramgarhia Society will forever be indebted to him. The editor of the book, S. Jaiteg Singh Anant said that this multi-colored,artistic and illustrated book describe the achievements of Ramgarhia Sikhs, it’s heritages’ glory and Jassa Singh Ramgarhia’s contribution in the establishment of Sikhism, role of Ramgarhia community in Sikh misls, warriors and generals, heritage symbols, historical monuments, art Attempts have been made to record a vast ocean of subjects like music, journalism, sports, industry etc. The book contains a collection of historical, ancient and rare photographs. He lauded the Ramgarhia crafts and architecture and remembered the world-famous personalities of the Ramgarhia community.
He said that this book has been made available in Canada, England, Africa, Library of Indian Parliament, National Library, Calcutta, Sikh Reference Library and Libraries of all the Universities of Punjab for the benefit of interested readers and students be able to learn about their heritage and make this book the source of their research work. He thanked all the office bearers and committee members of the Canadian Ramgarhia Society for their support and patronage in the publication of this first coffee table book published in Gurmukhi. On this occasion Mr. Jaiteg Singh Anant was honored with titles, commemorative mementos and cash. Dharam Singh Panesar, Vice President, Canadian Ramgarhia Society also commented on the book. Saluted Jaiteg Singh’s wisdom, art and scholarly wisdom. Charanjit Singh Marwaha, Secretary of the Society welcomed and thanked all. Surinder Singh Gahir, Tarsem Singh Virdi, Deep Singh Kalsi, Mota Singh Jheeta, Balbir Singh Chana, Jaswant Singh Jandoo, Santokh Singh Bilkhu and Gurnam Singh Kalsi also attended the function.
