Hindi Literary Society of BC (HLC) organized a program “Bharat Ki Den” to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” in collaboration with Consul General of India on July 11 virtually. NeemaManral the secretary, a writer and political activist and Sarika Sharma the treasurer of the Society supported in organizing it. Acharya Dwivedi the founder of HLC welcomed all and introduced the joint MC Neema and Sarika. He described how the sages envisioned about environment around 4000 BCE in Atharveda (PrathviSukta) and it was properly ingrained in Hindu culture and Dharma. Ajit Kumar the Consul from CGI addressed the participants and organizers. 

Sunita Mishra, from India, spoke on Yoga and Geeta Sethi on Ayurveda. Prachi recited her own composed poem “Bharat ki Beti”; and Renu Pant described the history of Indian spices and presented the fact that 70% of the spices of world comes from India. The classical popular dances from India Bharatanatyam and Kathak were presented by Vijaylakshmi and Anjali respectively. Sidharth Choudhary spoke about popular Indian- cuisine and Sucha Singh Mann about Indian Sports mostly on the “Pahalwani and Akhada” tradition in India.  JyotikaJasuja sang melodious song “Jahan daaldaal Par” singer) and Deepika “Saare Jahan se Acha”. The famous Lok Gayak  (Folk Singer) Ustad Imamuddin spoke about Indian Music and recited Rajasthani song.

Tarana Kaur, a celebrated artist and gifted actress spoke about Indian Cinema. Youth Ambassadors of HLC Geeta Mishra, Pooja Mishra, Sangavi and Samarya Gupta performed a small play on pharmaceutical and technology industry. Isha Sharma, Anushri Sharmaand Simran Oberoi illustrated the dance transformation from traditional to modern dance in Indian Cinema. 

Deepa Sharma gave the closing remarks and vote of thanks.The program was aimed to create an awareness about India’s rich gift given to the world of culture and inventions.
