ABBOTSFORD – An Indo-Canadian gangster who the police warned the police about in February 2024 was shot dead last Friday in Abbotsford.
Navpreet Dhaliwal, 28, a man who was one of two people named by police in 2024 as a “significant public safety risk”, has been identified as man shot dead in Abbotsford on Friday (Jan. 9) in a home in the 3200 block of Siskin Drive.
Police said Saturday (Jan. 10) that Dhaliwal’s killing was targeted and linked to the gang conflict.
“This was a targeted and brazen shooting that took place in the middle of the day,” said Cpl. Esther Tupper of IHIT.
The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) in August 2024 issued a public warning about Dhaliwal and another man – Anmol Sandhu – who they said were connected to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.
Dhaliwal and Sanhu were among three men arrested and charged in February 2024 with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder following an investigation related to the gang conflict. The criminal duo were also charged with drug and gun offences.
Abbotsford Police Chief Colin Watson said police learned that a Surrey man, Gavinder Siekham, 34, was allegedly working with Sandhu and Dhaliwal in the murder plot.
