SURREY – One man is dead following another gangland style shooting in Surrey Sunday evening. Although the police has not identified the victim but social media chatter alleges it’s an Indo-Canadian man.
On July 9, 2023 at approximately 5:07 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting in an alleyway north of 96 Avenue and 130 Street that has left the victim deceased.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male victim unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a white Ford Edge SUV. The victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Police are investigating whether a burnt out vehicle located a short time later in the area of 8200-block of 151A Street is connected to the homicide. No suspect description is currently available, and police are looking for any witnesses or those with dash camera footage from the area, to contact police.
The scene was cordoned off for a significant amount of time while the investigation unfolded. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called and will be working in partnership with Surrey RCMP.
Police said they are currently in the evidence gathering phase and no further information will be provided at this time.
Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact the IHIT Information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
