BC Conservative’s South Asian Candidate Jody Toor “Pretending” To Be A Real Doctor, NDP Says

NDP On Tuesday accused BC Conservative’s South Asian candidate Jody Toor of pretending to be a real doctor when she isn’t. NDP said in a press release that Toor, who studied “subspace as the optimal source of healing” at “Quantum University”, is calling herself a Medical Doctor. Toor has frequently described herself as a Medical Doctor despite not having a medical degree. “It appears that John Rustad and his party are aware that Jody Toor is inaccurately claiming she went to medical school. If he condones his candidates claiming they are doctors when they’re not, why would British Columbians trust him with the healthcare system? John Rustad is a risk we can’t afford,” said Adrian Dix, BC NDP candidate for Vancouver-Renfrew.

SURREY – NDP On Tuesday accused BC Conservative’s South Asian candidate Jody Toor of pretending to be a real doctor when she isn’t.

NDP said in a press release that Toor, who studied “subspace as the optimal source of healing” at “Quantum University”, is calling herself a Medical Doctor.

Toor has frequently described herself as a Medical Doctor despite not having a medical degree.

The B.C. Conservative Party announced Toor as a candidate last year with a post that called her “Dr. Jody Toor”. As recently as last month, she was introduced as a “physician” at an event with leader John Rustad, and recently claimed that she went to “medical school” in the United States.

NDP said Rustad’s B.C. Conservatives appear to be aware of the misleading title that Toor uses and have recently stopped using it in official campaign material. However, she continues to use the titles  “Doctor,” “M.D.” and “Chief Medical Officer” professionally – on her business website, and even on her lab coat.

Titles like “Doctor,” “Medical Practitioner,” and “Physician” are protected in BC.

“John Rustad’s candidate has misrepresented herself consistently as a medical doctor but she never went to medical school. It could be a disaster if this person was elected and in control of the province’s health budget. This is not the person that I want to partner with on the challenges ahead in healthcare,” Dr. Reece Schemmer said.

In reality, Toor’s education is a doctorate in “integrative medicine” from Hawaii-based Quantum University, an online school that offers “degrees in natural medicine based on the science of quantum physics.”

Quantum itself makes it clear on their website that they are “NOT ACCREDITED” and “graduates are NOT physicians or naturopaths.”

Toor’s online biography says “As a Quantum Practitioner, Dr. Toor also utilizes elements of quantum physics to help her patients realize their greatest potential.”

Here are some of the foundations of Quantum University:

“We believe in the reality of the field and subspace as the optimal source of healing.”

“We believe in using a model of medicine based on the concepts of bio-terrain and subtle energies.”

“My objective in creating Quantum University was to update the medical and natural curriculum with the last discoveries in Neuroscience and Quantum Physics into a coherent and practical multidimensional model of Integrative Medicine.” (Website)

Exams at the university are online and “are not timed and consist of true/false and multiple-choice questions.” A student who fails an exam can reattempt it after 12 hours.
