While an alleged drunk driver killed a pedestrian in Surrey Wednesday, another alleged drunk driver killed an elderly woman in downtown Vancouver. The 78-year-old woman was crossing Beach Avenue on Broughton Street just before 8 p.m. when she was struck by a white Nissan SUV in the middle of the street. She was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Investigators believe driver impairment was a factor in this collision.

VANCOUVER – While an alleged drunk driver killed a pedestrian in Surrey Wednesday, another alleged drunk driver killed an elderly woman in downtown Vancouver.
Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s seventh pedestrian fatality of the year after a 78-year-old woman died Tuesday night.
The woman was crossing Beach Avenue on Broughton Street just before 8 p.m. when she was struck by a white Nissan SUV in the middle of the street. She was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators believe driver impairment was a factor in this collision.
A 30-year-old man was arrested. He has since been released on a future court date.
