SURREY – The second man seriously injured in Saturday afternoon’s gangland style shooting in South Surrey’s Athletic Park has died, raising the body count to two as another victim continues to suffer from serious injuries, according to police.

Sources tell DESIBUZZCanada that both of the murdered men are Indo-Canadian. Their first names are not available but according to our sources they are gangland figures Khosa and Sidhu and possibly the still surviving member is Johal. These names come from very credible sources but police have neither released the names of the victims nor identified any gang affiliations so far.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is urging witnesses to come forward after what appeared to be a targeted shooting in South Surrey, which left multiple victims deceased.

On July 30, at 2:45 p.m., police received reports of a shooting at the South Surrey Athletic Park, located at 14600 20 Avenue, Surrey, BC.  Surrey Detachment first responders attended the location and found three individuals, all suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two victims have died as a result of their injuries, while a third is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Surrey Detachment, BC Coroners Service, the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC).

Investigators believe the shooting to have been targeted and do not believe there is any further risk to the public. At this time, investigators are working to confirm the identities of the victims and any nexus to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

“The onset of any investigation is critical as we move swiftly to secure time-sensitive and perishable evidence,” says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We are appealing to anyone with dash cam video to secure the footage and to contact us immediately.”

IHIT is asking that any witnesses or anyone with dash camera video who attended the area of the South Surrey Athletic Park between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or who has any information regarding the shooting, to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

DESIBUZZCanada earlier reported that our sources tell us that the South Surrey shooting is most likely related to the recent killing of Brothers Keeper gangster Meninder Dhaliwal and his friend Sat Gill in Whistler last weekend and the targeted individuals could be the rival gang that took out hits on Dhaliwal and Gill.

Police arrested two Indo-Canadian men for the Whistler murders. Gursimran Sahota, 24, from Surrey and 20-year-old Tanvir Khakh, also from Surrey, are charged with first degree murder. Police arrested three other individuals along with Khakh and Sahota but the extent of their involvement is still being determined as the investigation is still ongoing.
