Conservative Leader Scheer Says He’s Traveling On Party Dime To Fix Relations With India

But Will Scheer Also Address Concerns On India's Human Rights Record And Freedom Of Speech?

According to the press release, Scheer will meet with senior Indian government officials, business leaders, and civil society and faith leaders to establish personal relationships and highlight the powerful values and strong alliance that underpins the relationship between Canada and India.  The Conservative Party of Canada will pay for the mission. Will Scheer also address the fact that India's anti-Sikh stance is main reason that relations between Canada and India have gone sour after rogue Indian agents sabotaged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's recent visit to India where the Prime Minister was ill treated by the government and the country's propaganda heavy media. And will Scheer also tell India that it must clean up it's human rights record as well as guard against anti-democratic tenets like freed of expression and the right of minority groups to protest against government abuses.

OTTAWA – Conservative party leader Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Official Opposition, announced Tuesday he will travel to India this fall for a nine-day mission to repair and strengthen Canada-India relations.

According to the press release, Scheer will meet with senior Indian government officials, business leaders, and civil society and faith leaders to establish personal relationships and highlight the powerful values and strong alliance that underpins the relationship between Canada and India.

The Conservative Party of Canada will pay for the mission.

“As the world’s largest democracy and one of its fast-growing economies, India in recent years is transforming into a rising power in the vast Indo-Pacific region and beyond,” Scheer said. “Our two countries share symbolic and cultural bonds borne from decades of migration and common heritage. Standing with a united India is Canada’s gateway to unprecedented human and economic development, and an essential alliance for Canada to strengthen in the face of shared threats.

“Unfortunately, Justin Trudeau’s disastrous trip to India damaged this key relationship and we must now work to repair it. A Conservative government will dramatically expand the strategic relationship between our countries and our peoples and advance our shared security, prosperity, and values.”

But it was widely reported and backed by the Canadian intelligence agencies that rogue Indian government agents conspired to derail Trudeau's visit due to the latter being a close friend and supporter of the Canadian Sikh community as well as having a large number of Sikhs in his cabinet.

Will Scheer also address the fact that India's anti-Sikh stance is main reason that relations between Canada and India have gone sour after rogue Indian agents sabotaged Trudeau's recent visit to India where the Prime Minister was ill treated by the government and the country's propaganda heavy media.

And will Scheer also tell India that it must clean up it's human rights record as well as guard against anti-democratic tenets like freed of expression and the right of minority groups to protest against government abuses.
