SURREY – Many South Asian businesses in Surrey have received a hate-filled racist "KKK Greetings" from the well known racist and criminal White organization and some are worried that it is in fact a threat to their business and or threat of physical harm.

The flyer sent to one South Asian business reads: "KKK Greetings – All Pakis, Darkis, Hindu Man. It is time you stupids left my country. Why do you idiots insist on coming to my country? We whites do not go to your smelly, unclean, dirty country but you guys keep coming to my country. My country is for Whites Only, you bastared do not seem to understand that simple English.

"I put it more simply – Get the Fuck out of my country now Mother Fucker listen and pay attention. We will visit you next few days, for a simple lesson. Christ is my teacher. And I fear no evil, I must protect my country from all the Devils, Darkis."

Khanna-KKK-Hate2The businessman, who spoke to DESIBUZZCanada on the promise that he remain unnamed, said he and his family – who jointly run the business, were worried enough that they immediately reported it to the police and are taking precaution as they go about running their business.

"We feel it is a direct threat as they said they would visit and teach us a lesson," he told DESIBUZZCanada.

"We are scared and taking all precaution as it is already hard running a business without this distraction," he said, adding that police has assured them that they are aware of this hate propaganda and are monitoring the situation.

South Asian Anti-Hate Group Says Coordinated Campaign Needed To Fight Hate Propaganda

racist-flyersVANCOUVER – “Neo-Nazi flyers appearing at this year’s AIDS Walk is yet another example of for a need a coordinated campaign among target communities to fight the rise of hate propaganda,” says Imtiaz Popat, founder of the Coalition Against Bigotry – Pacific.

“This resurgence of bigotry is not just about racism”, says Popat “This why we launched the Coalition of Bigotry – Pacific in January of this year. The Coalition was formed as result of hate literature that appeared, in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Richmond, New West Minster and East Vancouver.

“Now they are targeting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities saying we deserve AIDS because of our sexual orientation,” says Popat. “These bigots are racist, sexist, hetrosexist, transexits as well as classist”, says Popat.

“Organizing counter protests is not going to stop them,” says Popat. Since Steven Harper rescinded section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act which prohibited the promotion of hate, it has blurred the line between hate free speech and hate speech. The Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP have not stop rallies promoting hate city halls and mosques across Canada. They are however arresting protestors for the breach of peace.

During the planned hate rally at Vancouver City Hall last month, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Roberts claimed that there is nothing he or city council can do to stop the hate rally from happening and encouraged protestors to risk their safety and arrest to confront the hate rally. Seven protesters were arrested at the counter-protest at City Hall.

However, there are still laws that prohibit hate crimes, but they are not being applied by lawmakers and law enforcers. Section 319 of the Criminal Code of Canada clearly prescribes penalties from a fine to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years for anyone who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace. There is also provincial human rights legislation that prohibits hate propaganda in other provinces, but not in British Columbia.

“There is a lack of political leadership in dealing with hate propaganda,” says Popat. “Thousands marching in counter-protest will not stop these bigots from promoting hate in our communities”, says Popat.

Another counter-protest has been called by Unite Against Racism to oppose White Supremacists organizing a patrol at the Peace Arch Border on September 30th. A group called the Storm Alliance, an offshoot of the Soldiers of Odin, has been patrolling the at the Quebec Boarder for months to witness the would-be refugees crossing the border. They have been critical of the Trudeau government’s refugee policy. This anti-immigrant vigilante patrol is reminiscent the Minutemen that patrolled the Mexican and Canadian border a decade ago. They have called for another coordinated action in conjunction with the Canadian Coalition of Concerned Citizens (CCCC) at the Canadian and US borders on September 30th. A similar action across Canada was organized this spring at City Halls across Canada including Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey City Halls. A handful showed up at Vancouver City Hall but there were no shows at Surrey and Burnaby City Hall.
